Historic Trade Routes

Trade routes across Turtle Island provided essential links and networks between Indigenous communities.

The Potawatomi-Miami Trail connected to other regional trails. There was a branch of the route, close to the confluence of the Elkhart and St. Joseph Rivers, that headed north to the Niles, Michigan area. The trail also connected to the Sauk Trail that goes to Detroit Michigan.
