About Us

A committee was formed in April 2020 to begin the planning for marking the trail. The members of the committee seek ways to remember the long history of Indigenous Peoples in this region of northern Indiana. They also value the presence of Potawatomi and Miami people today. The trail marking project is a way of informing people who live in the area, as well as visitors, about this important history and the presence of Indigenous people today. The group meets by Zoom almost every month.

Current actions of the group include designing a trail sign and kiosks, communicating with Potawatomi and Miami cultural leaders, building a website, considering locations for the initial signage, raising funds, and connecting with city and county officials.

Consider joining the work of marking the trail. Contact the group regarding your interest by sending an email to info@potawatomi-miamitrail.org.
